Getting married abroad – Notary Services

Getting married abroad can seem a wonderfully romantic thing to do, but if you fail to organize the most important things properly, your dream wedding could quickly turn into a nightmare.

All foreign countries have differing rules about the documents you are required to produce to prove who you are and your right to marry or enter a civil partnership with the person you have chosen. Many of these documents will need to be verified, as well as having the documents legalised by the Foreign Commonwealth Office or the Consular for the county where you are getting married – formally known as ‘notarised’. This process needs to be completed before you leave the UK to satisfy the authorities abroad that they are legally correct and authentic. (more…)

Intellectual Property – Can you Trade Mark Colour Combinations?

The courts have delivered the latest ruling on the long-running issue of whether or not companies are able to trademark colours associated with their brands. In Red Bull GmbH v European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), the European General Court (Second Chamber) (the Court) upheld the EUIPO’s decision to cancel two of Red Bull’s European “colour combination” trade marks for “lack of precision”. Problems Getting Paid? Know Your Employment Rights

There are a variety of reasons for experiencing problems with pay, whether you are an employee or contractor. The first thing we advise, is talk to your employer and find out why.
If you are struggling to get in contact with your employer, or can’t seem to agree on the amount you are owed– then you are well within your rights to challenge them.
If you choose to challenge them, you should act quickly. It is much harder to recuperate lost wages after 3 months from the date the problem arose. (more…)

C & I Dinner 2017

The North West Law Society Commerce & Industry Group Annual Dinner is an evening event of networking and dining to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.

The prestigious event included a champagne reception, 4-course meal, live entertainment, and a charity auction and raffle. The ticket sales, auction and raffle raised an impressive £15,000, with all the proceeds going to the charity. (more…)
